Mobile Vegetable Handling Machine

The challenge:

 

Pearson Hydraulics were contracted to design and manufacture a bespoke hydraulic and electrical system for the new generation mobile handling and grading machine for vegetable handling, for use on potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips, bulbs and more.  Allowing growers to clean and inspect crop straight from the harvester as well as loading directly into bulker lorries for onward travel and processing. 

 

Solution:

 

Our technical engineers calculated mechanical forces (acceleration torque), hydraulic flow rates, working pressure etc. for correct hardware selection.  We designed and supplied a Hydraulic Power Unit package comprising of; 15kW 3~ 4 pole IE3 induction motor, piston pump with load sensing control, aluminium bell housing, 120 litre steel reservoir, cooling and monitoring equipment, all the equipment was mounted on a robust steel frame with lifting facility and everything was fully tested. An electrical power and control panel. Danfoss proportional valves, control valve manifold assemblies, hydraulic motors, radio remote control system and electrical connectivity. For sustainability an energy saving hydraulic system architecture was adopted.
